Recent Announcements

PLEASE CONSIDER PLACING flowers in the Sanctuary for the 2012 year. The new Flower Calendar is on the bulletin board in the hallway. The cost is $53, and there are many dates available.


THANKS TO ALL MEMBERS who donated to the Willow Wood Nursing Home gift bags. We are happy to report that resident gift bags and Bingo prizes totaled to approximately $405. Thanks again for your generosity.


THANKS TO OUR BPC WEEKDAY SCHOOL and our congregation, a library program will be started in El Chonco, one of Amigos' more rural villages in Nicaragua. A total of $826.37 in Spanish books were either purchased as gifts by our congregation or earned with bonus points from the Weekday School's Book Fair. Our Weekday School earned $516.78 worth of bonus point books. The Circle of Friends' contribution was $196, and the congregation at large, $113.59. The children in El Chonco will enjoy 113 new books. If you have access to any additional elementary school books in Spanish, gently used or new, contact Sandra Henderson.


IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PLAYING for the BPC Men's Softball Team (games are on Monday nights) please contact Dino Ianniello. The team has a lot of fun, and this has always been a great fellowship event..


WEEKDAY SCHOOL REGISTRATION Registration for enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year has begun! We are excited to announce our school was voted "Best of Gwinnett" for 2011! We offer a variety of classes for children ages 12 months (by Sept. 1, 2012) through kindergarten. For more information, please contact Sherry Rutledge at 770-945-6711.


WELCOME CLASS Are you interested in becoming a member of Buford Presbyterian Church? Are you already a member but would like more information about the history of the reformed theological movement and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)? Would you like to know more about the history and programs of Buford Presbyterian Church? If any of these questions apply to you, please attend the next Welcome Class that will start at 9:45 a.m. in the church parlor on February 5th and will continue on the 12th and 19th. THE SOUPER BOWL OF CARING is a youth-led grassroots movement of caring-- the result of thousands of young people joining together to fight hunger and poverty. On February 5 we will collect canned goods to donate to the North Gwinnett Co-op during our PATH offering. We are asking you to bring your canned goods to place near the Lord's Table along with your PATH offering on Sunday, February 5. Your contributions will help change lives in our area! Let's join together to put an end to hunger!


FAREWELL RECEPTION: Come extend your farewell blessings to Pastor Rix and Family after 11:00am service on Sunday February 12th in the Fellowship Hall. We will have a light reception lunch. Chicken nuggets will be provided. Please bring an appetizer or dessert to share. Finger foods such as appetizers, veggie tray, fruit tray, cheese/crackers, brownies, cookies and cupcakes will be needed and appreciated. THE 2ND-5TH GRADERS, ALONG WITH THE JUNIOR CHOIR, will go to Laser Tag of Buford on Sunday, February 12th from 2:00-3:30. The cost is $12 which includes 2 games, popcorn and a drink. Parents are invited. Please let Pastor Rix or Mrs. Kim Wilberger know if you are going so we can plan accordingly. We must have at least 20 kids for this price. It is a blast! We will have regular rehearsals that afternoon. No rehearsals on Super Bowl Sunday, February 5.


THERE WILL BE NO YOUTH FELLOWSHIP ON FEB. 12, instead all past and present youth fellowship members since Rix has been at BPC are invited for a farewell dinner and "roast" here at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11th. Please help pass this on to anyone who has been a participant. Bring a tribute for the roast and send pictures to Eleanor Thompson for a slide show.


Another trip is being planned by the Wise & Wonderful on Sunday, February 19 to see the play, "Where There's a Will, There's a Relative" in Gainesville. Dinner will follow at the Crossroads. The cost of the play is $13. You may sign-up on the sheet in the Narthex, or call Ann Kessler or Barbara Welling for reservations. Deadline for reservations is February 1st.


THE BUFORD PRESBYTERIAN MOTHERS' GETAWAY Annual Mother's Getaway - March 16-18 Glenrock Inn, Montreat, NC Something for everybody, but nothing required! Everyone needs a getaway now and then to rejuvenate. We have the perfect getaway for you!!! Glenrock Inn is a relaxing lodge in Montreat, NC. It accommodates 20 guests in 12 bedrooms with adjoining baths on two levels. Supper for Friday and Saturday evening and Breakfast for Saturday and Sunday morning will be provided by Anne's Custom Catering. Lunch on Saturday is at your leisure. Suggestions of popular spots will be provided. Carpools will leave at various times on Friday and it is a 3-3 ½ hour drive, more if you shop along the way. This is a weekend where you can do nothing or spend the day reading, strolling through Montreat, visiting the spa, eating, sleeping or touring the Biltmore House. The cost is $150 for the entire weekend (2 nights lodging and 4 meals) and this is a great gift idea for Christmas / Valentine's Day or birthday! Return this reservation form along with a check for $50 to BPC and put "Mothers Getaway on the memo line. Balance is due Feb. 1st. Why not put "Mothers Getaway" at the top of your wish list and enclose copies of this form in all your letters to Santa? Be sure to put your $50 deposit now to reserve your space. CHILDREN'S WORSHIP IS IN NEED of 20 cigar boxes to replace our current story boxes. We use them to store the felt stories. Thanks so much!
