Buford Presbyterian Church has a Stephen Ministry program that started in 2007.
Stephen Ministers are laypeople from our congregation who are trained to provide distinctly Christian, one-on-one love and care to those suffering personal crisis. Everyone goes through difficult times. Having someone to care, listen, and to share God’s love can help someone get through the confusion, stress and/or loneliness.
A crisis may be: Death of a loved one, Separation or Divorce, Birth of a child, Loss of a job, Relocating, Serious or Terminal illness, Hospitalization, Hospice and all other situations of loss and change that cause minor, moderate or extreme fluctuations in our lives.

There are several ways that Stephen Ministry can be utilized by the congregation:
- They may want to train to be a Stephen Minister
- They may want to refer someone who needs the services of a Stephen Minister
- They may need a Stephen Minister themselves
- They may want to befriend Stephen Ministry by serving in an administration or public relations capacity Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry and is available to members of this church and to non-members in the surrounding community. Stephen Ministers cannot and do not replace the Pastor in times of crisis. Rather they are the ones that are still there long after the initial Pastors visits and when all well wishers have left. Stephen Ministers support a care receiver long after an initial emergency event takes place sometimes for weeks, months or for years after.
If you need a Stephen Minister now, at anytime in the future or if you want to learn more about this ministry please call the church office or talk to a Stephen Leader.
"Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2
